Profession
Before acting in films, he worked with Jochhon Dastidar’s troupe Charbak for nearly six years. He then joined his father’s troupe Biswarupa. He started his career as an actor in a Hindi television serial directed by Saibal Mitra, which was an adaptation of Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush. He played the role of Topshe in a TV series directed by Sandip Ray.
He has appeared in many Bengali films, including “Aamar Bhuvan” (2002), “Abar Aranye” (2003), “Aabar Asibo Phire” (2004), “Teen Yaari Katha” (2006), “Rang Milanti” (2011) , “Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana” (2016), “Basu Poribar” (2019), “Sannyasi Deshonayok” (2020) and “Habuchandra Raja Gabuchandra Mantri” (2020).
He gained immense popularity after playing the role of hitman ‘Bob Biswas’ in Sujoy Ghosh’s 2012 Hindi film ‘Kahaani’.
He played the role of “Tutti Futti” aka “Biplab Bagchi” in the Bollywood film “Jagga Jasoos” (2017).
In 2017, he acted in the short film Mickey and Mimi. In the same year, he acted in ALT Balaji’s Bengali web series Dhimaner Dinkaal.
He acted in the 2020 Hindi film Dil Bechara, which starred the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi.
