Saurav Ghosal was born on Sunday, August 10, 1986, in Kolkata, West Bengal (age 37; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Leo. He completed his education at Lakshmipat Singhania College, Kolkata. At the age of eight, Saurav Ghosal began practicing squash in his hometown and joined the Calcutta Tennis Club for professional training. To further his squash training, he moved from Kolkata to Chennai and became a member of the ICL Squash Academy in Chennai, where renowned Indian squash coaches Major (Rtd) Maniam and Cyrus Poncha became his mentors. Later, Saurav Gosar became a member of Pontefract Squash Club in West Yorkshire and received professional training under the guidance of coach Malcolm Wellstrop.

In December 2021, the Professional Squash Association (PSA) appointed Saurav Ghosal as President. In August 2022, he participated in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and defeated his opponent James Wellstrop of England in straight sets in the 3rd/4th play-off match and won the bronze medal in the men’s squash singles. By winning this event, he created history by becoming the first Indian squash player to win a medal in the singles event at the Commonwealth Games. He defeated Sri Lankan opponent Shamil Vakil 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 in the second round, and Canadian David Bergagon defeated 11-6, 11 in the third round. -2 lost to Saurav Gosar, 11-6.
