Savannah Chrisley and her boyfriend Robert Shiver are taking the next step in their relationship.
During a conversation about Savannah’s on January 7th Unlocked podcast, Shiver revealed that he has met his girlfriend’s mom, Julie Chrisley, but hasn’t had a chance to meet her dad, Todd Chrisley, as they are both serving time after being convicted of fraud and tax evasion in June 2022.
“I met your mother once. An amazing human being,” he said. “Me and Julie, we get along great.”
However, Savannah was concerned that he didn’t meet “the best version of his mother.” She added: “That was really hard for me. You’re going to visit her in prison and dear God, I don’t think you’ve ever thought, ‘Oh, I’m going to see my girlfriend’s mom in prison, meet her for the first time.’ Like, it’s not a picture that anyone ever imagined.”

When asked what was going through his mind, Shiver explained, “I was just being open… It’s so easy to be rude at the keyboard. you know And it’s so easy to read the comments, and that’s why I just stay away from all that stuff because all you’re going to do is go down the rabbit hole.”
He claimed that “most people want to attack you [and] they don’t want to praise you.”
Shiver found comfort in the fact that he was already close to Savannah and her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe Chrisley.
“I’m going into this with an open mind. Like, this is someone you love,” he shared. “This is someone everyone in the car loves. So I went with an open mind and it didn’t disappoint and I had a great time with her. I think she laughed a lot.”
Savannah told Shiver that the exchange happened because “you’re my mother and I’m my father.” She added, “So that’s why you two get along so well.”

On the other hand, Todd “wasn’t that open” to meeting Shiver, according to Savannah.
“I think that’s probably rightfully so. Right?” Shiver replied. “It’s his daughter, you know? Who is this guy? He’s got all this baggage. You know. And Todd tends to be vocal in certain situations and problems.”
He added: “I don’t know if there are many situations where nobody knows how he feels because they always know how he feels.”

News of Savannah’s relationship with Shiver, who had been married to now-ex Lindsay Shiver since 2007, broke in September 2023. Robert previously made headlines in July 2023 after surviving an alleged assassination plot orchestrated by Lindsay , who is the mother of his three children and her alleged boyfriend Terrence Bethel.
Savannah speculated that her father might have reservations about her choice of boyfriend, saying, “I don’t think anyone ever looks at life and they say, ‘Oh, I want my kid to marry someone who’s 12 years older, who’s divorced, who has children.’ Like that’s not what you’d want for your daughter.”
“It’s not what you would draw,” Shiver added.

When asked if he thought he’d meet Todd this year, Shiver replied, “Keeping our fingers crossed.”
As for what’s next for the couple, Savannah previously admitted that she doesn’t plan on having a child with Shiver until he’s legally divorced from his ex — but she has considered growing her family with him.
“Well, I’m not having a child with someone who’s still legally married,” Savannah said. – I’m not really for that.
“But if I had a child with him and we weren’t married, like, I’m fine with that, but you just can’t be married to someone else when I have that child,” she continued. “No. Well, that’s a whole other story.”
She thinks things will “move quickly” once Shiver’s divorce is finalized.
