Saw 11 Officially in the Works for a 2024 Release: ‘The Game Continues’

The Saw the franchise is getting deeper into double digits.

On Monday, Lionsgate confirmed that the 11 Saw the film is in the works, it will be released on September 27, 2024. “The game continues,” read the tagline on the official Instagram page.

No further details about the plot, cast or filmmakers have been released.

After that comes the news about the sequel Saw X debuted in theaters in September, earning the best reviews of any installment in the gory horror franchise. According to Rotten Tomatoes, which aggregates positive and negative reviews from critics, the 10th film has a score of 80%, while the next highest is the 2004 original at 50%.

Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith reprized their roles as John Kramer (aka Jigsaw) and Amanda, respectively, for Saw X.

Director Kevin Greutert, who started with the franchise as an editor for the first entry, told PEOPLE of seeing Bell and Smith working together again: “Everybody was very excited to be back together. Tobin, Shawnee — and maybe others — either is really special for everyone. It was a reunion and everyone loved coming back.”

After 20 years of Saw movies, producer Oren Koules explained what keeps audiences coming back for more: “For the fans, we try to be consistent. We try to give them a two-hour escape from everything they get out of the movies. … There has to be some edgy humor. We tried not to get that so serious.”

“Shawnee has a bunch of great one-liners that just pop,” adds producer Mark Burg. “And we have a great twist at the end of the movie that the audience cheered for last night when they saw who we brought back. It was fun.”
