Scarlett Johansson Makes Surprise SNL Cameo as ‘Scary Mom’ Sen. Katie Britt: ‘Women Love Kitchens’

Scarlett Johansson channeled Senator Katie Britt Saturday night live this weekend, as she delivered a message to President Joe Biden.

During a surprise appearance on the comedy sketch show State of the Union cold open, the 39-year-old Oscar nominee poked fun at the Republican politician, who delivered his party’s rebuttal to Biden’s annual address to Congress on Thursday.

The skit began with cast members Ego Nwodim as CNN’s Abby Phillip and Mikey Day as Biden, who gave a short speech noting that Britt’s answer would help him “more than anything else I can say here.”

While the real-life Britt condemned many of Biden’s political views and noted in her response that he “has been in office longer than I’ve been alive,” according to CBS News, Johansson’s character echoed some of her same sentiments.

Filmed in the kitchen, similar to how Britt recorded her own response to Biden’s State of the Union, Johansson joked that she was “auditioning for the role of a terrible mom” and “doing an original monologue called ‘This Country is Hell.’ ”

“Look, I’m not just a senator. I’m a wife and a mother, and the craziest bitch in the Target parking lot,” the actress added during the Josh Brolin-hosted episode with musical guest Ariana Grande. “I’m worried about our children’s future, and that’s why I invited you into this strange, empty kitchen. Because the Republicans want me to attract women voters, and women love kitchens.”

President Biden’s vigorous State of the Union gives him prime fundraising hours in the 2024 campaign.

“But seriously, my husband Wesley and I just watched President Biden’s speech and what I saw was the performance of a full-time politician. But I, I’m not performing. I’m not. I’m not,” she added, making dramatic hand gestures. “But first of all, I’m a mom. And like any mom, I’m going to turn out of nowhere into a shockingly violent story about human trafficking for sex. And rest assured that every detail about it is real, except for the year, where it happened, and who it was. was president when it happened.”

Johansson’s Britt then began promoting “bejeweled cross necklaces” as if she were on QVC, before becoming “strangely seductive for no apparent reason”.

“Like I said, the American dream has turned into a nightmare. You know, my husband, Wesley, and I spend a lot of time in this kitchen worrying. Kitchens are where families have tough conversations. Like the one we’re having tomorrow about how mom is doing freaked out the whole country,” she said.

“But everybody, it’s Biden who’s destroying our country. Just ask yourself — are you better off today than you were four years ago, in the good old days of 2020, the year nothing bad happened?” Johansson added.

After briefly singing, Johansson’s character then said that she tells her children every night that they are “soaked in the blood of patriots in a castle of bones,” before referring to Jordan Peele Get out, stirring a spoon around a teacup – prompting a response from Kenan Thompson.

“But to the American people who are struggling right now, know this: We hear you. We see you. We smell you. We’re in your kitchen right now and we’re looking through your refrigerator. And what’s that on the top shelf? Migrants,” Johansson’s Britt added.

“Finally, President of the United States, I’ll just say this: Mr. Biden, this is not the last you’ll see of Katie Britt. Maybe not in politics, but when you close your eyes, I’m Coming,” she continued.
