Thanks to streaming giants like Netflix, fans can binge-watch and re-watch schitt’s creek Six seasons again and again. In addition to counting the actual number of times Alexis said “Uh, David,” fans also discovered little details they didn’t notice the first time around.
Everything from the sweater David wore to Stevie’s burst of confidence after his performance. singing and dancing drew attention, but there were smaller background details that were spotted by eagle-eyed fans.It’s these little details that make it happen schitt’s creek It works because fans like the consistency of the character’s storylines.
Eye Spy Alexis bomber dress
In the pilot episode, Alexis wears a pastel pink cocktail dress and runs around her family’s mansion packing her things. The government has just arrived and confiscated Rose’s property, and Alexis is furious.
Looking back at Alexis fans in the pilot episode, she was a different person compared to Alexis in season six. Alexis has become a more responsible, level-headed woman than she was in the first season. Alexis leaves more of her old life behind and gives Twyla a bag of old clothes. Ironically, the first item of clothing Twyla pulls out is the pink dress Alexis wore in the pilot episode. That dress alone completes Alexis’ storyline because it’s a small reminder of where Alexis has been and how far she’s come.

The open mic night was a landmark moment in Patrick and David’s relationship. Not only did they bring business to the store, but Patrick sang a love song to David in front of most of the town. David felt a little embarrassed about this, but his mood changed after seeing Patrick sing about his feelings.
In later episodes, Patrick moves into a new apartment, which he and David make comfortable. In some scenes, fans noticed an open mic flyer framed in Patrick’s kitchen. The night was so important to him that he turned it into art.
Antonio is found in the Rose Pharmacy
In Roadkill, David meets his former boss Wendy at the local flea market, where they both sell similar products. David can’t help but feel that Wendy is picking up on his ideas, and after meeting her business partner Antonio, David feels like he’s been cheated on in more ways than one.
Antonio is exactly like David. David noted that he looked familiar, but that might just be because they had the same fashion sense. However, eagle-eyed fans realized that David did meet Antonio in front of the flea market. Four episodes earlier (“Rock On!”), Antonio can be seen browsing in the background of Rose Apothecary.
Gary does it all at Schitt’s Creek
In season three, David meets his driving instructor Gary. David was shocked about taking his driver’s test again as he had failed it many times before. But after meeting Gary, David realized he had nothing to worry about. Gary was too busy with his own schedule to worry about David.
Interestingly, Gary reappears in season four as the student who introduces Alexis to Elmdale College. Due to his brief appearance in season three, it’s easy to overlook that he’s the same student as in season four.
The apartment Alexis saw might belong to Bob’s brother
In season one, Johnny is forced to speak at brother Bob’s funeral. Bob claims his brother died in some kind of freak accident, but the story seems more like a suicide. Respect. Bob notices that his brother was found hanging from the ceiling fan, which upsets Johnny.
Later in season two, Alexis and David went apartment hunting, and Alexis found a dream apartment in Schitt’s Creek. But Ray, the real estate agent for the apartment, told them that someone had died in the apartment but not to worry because the ceiling fan had been replaced. Does this mean Alexis and David are standing in Brother Bob’s old apartment? Schitt’s Creek is not a very big town. This seems to be more than just a coincidence.
Artie isn’t the only one calling Alexis by a nickname
When Alexis and Ted broke up, Alexis dove into dating as a way to stay busy and keep her mind off Ted. Moira is especially proud of Alexis because he’s excelling on the pitch instead of sulking at home. That is until they discover that her new boyfriend Artie is the same age as Johnny.
To make things even more awkward, he calls Alexis “Lexi,” which makes David uncomfortable. Artie wasn’t the only one to give Alexis a nickname while at Schitt’s Creek. If fans recall, at the beginning of Ted and Alexis’ relationship, he also called her “Lex.” Artie calls Alexis “Lex,” a subtle nod to the nickname at the beginning of the relationship?

David’s birthday also marked his first date with Patrick. Adorably, David wasn’t sure if this was a date or a friendly business meeting. When Steve showed up for dinner, Patrick was confused and went to the bathroom. This behavior leads Steve to believe that Patrick planned tonight as a date. To prove her point, she pointed out that if Patrick’s gift to David was sentimental – it would be a date. She is right. A blue bag contained the receipt from Rose Apothecary’s first sale. It was the sweetest gift David could have asked for.
After “Graduation Night,” fans discovered the framed paper hanging on the motel wall next to David and Alexis’ bathroom, and later on a side table.
One thing fans are slowly discovering on rewatches is that the Rose kids don’t understand metaphors. Johnny and Moira throw out metaphors that kids never understand what their parents are trying to say. In one scene, Johnny compares their workday to time in a salt mine, but David has no idea what it means to work in a salt mine. In another scene, Moira says “there’s an elephant in the room,” and David looks around the room for the elephant. These small moments are just a glimpse into Alexis and David’s mental abilities to adapt to general small talk.
Gwen is back!
Bob and Gwen were one of the first couples Johnny and Moira met at Schitt’s Creek. Gwen only appears a handful of times in the show, mostly because she left Bob for their pastor after decades of marriage.
Bob is sad when Gwen leaves and he hopes Gwen will come back after she leaves him and takes the house. He even left a space in the garage for her car. No one had high hopes for Bob and Gwen, but fans spotted her hanging out with Jazz at David and Patrick’s wedding! Maybe she really is back.
Johnny’s consistency with Caps Lock
Part of what makes a great show is consistency.After six seasons, it’s easy to forget little facts about the characters (interests, allergies, hobbies, etc…), but schitt’s creek Pay close attention to consistency.
When Johnny started working at the motel, he had problems with his computer and didn’t know how to use it. He told Steve that whenever he typed, the words were in capital letters. In a later episode, Johnny is excited when the motel is sold out, but when the camera pans to the computer, some names are written normally and some are in all caps. The all-caps name is a direct callback to his keyboard issues.
