Mumbai Schools Closed Today: Today 6th December 2023 has been announced as a holiday for Mumbai schools. According to reports, several schools will remain closed today on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkar’s death anniversary, which is considered a local holiday in Mumbai. In its press release, the state government clarified that the holiday will apply to all state and semi-state offices in the city and suburban settlements.
This is the third local holiday declared by the Maharashtra state government after Anant Chaturdashi was announced in 1996 and Dahi Handi since 2007. The death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar is known as Mahaparinirvana Divas. According to reports, the local holiday is likely to be an annual feature henceforth, though district collectors will issue a new notification every year.
According to reports, school holidays have been announced for local areas. However, no clear directive has been issued and schools around Dadar’s Shivaji Park and several suburban areas will remain closed in view of the crowds expected to throng Chaitya Bhoomi in Shivaji Park.
