An “acidic” substance was fired at students and school staff, Scotland Yard said.

Officers are now looking for the suspect, who they described as a tall, slim, black man.

He was dressed in dark clothes, and his face was hidden, probably with a mask or balaclava, added the forced.

The alleged pitcher also rode an e-scooter to and from the venue.

Horror struck the main road in front of the school building as students and teachers headed home on Monday.

The girl, whose injuries are potentially life-changing, remains in hospital.

“The area was busy with people and cars at the time. I’m particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have captured dashcam footage that can help us determine what happened.”

Scotland Yard said tests are being carried out on the substance and at this stage they believe it is acid.

“Urgent investigations are underway to identify and arrest those responsible,” the spokesman said.

The LFB said: “Firefighters have been called to a chemical incident on Harrow Road in Westminster.

“Two teenagers and an adult woman suffered injuries from what the Metropolitan Police Service believe to be acid and were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
