Rains in Tamil Nadu: Schools for classes 1 to 5 in Vellore district have been ordered to remain closed. Due to heavy rainfall in Vellore, waterlogging was reported on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway at Konavattam. The district administration suspended classes from 1st to 5th grade in all schools of the district due to rain.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rain with isolated heavy rainfall over interior Tamil Nadu. The southwest monsoon has been active in the region, with heavy rain expected in some areas. Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Schools closed due to rain in Tamil Nadu

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) has announced heavy rains in six districts of Tamil Nadu. The sudden rain was due to a change in westerly winds, according to the meteorological department. Check out the tweet from ANI below:

Districts of Tamil Nadu will be hit by heavy rains

According to reports, rains are likely to hit Vellore, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Ranipet for a brief period. The RMC also said that there will be heavy rains in nine districts of the state today. Puducherry and Karaikkal will also receive heavy rains. It is currently raining heavily in Chennai city. The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain at a few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas.

Closed schools in Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh

Apart from Tamil Nadu, schools will also remain closed today and tomorrow (September 21 and 22) in Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh due to the International Trade Fair and Moto Ga. Schools for grades 1 to 12 will remain closed throughout the district to avoid inconvenience to students and parents with respect to the law and the traffic system.

According to a notification issued by the district education department, there will be a holiday in schools in the district on September 21 after 2 pm. Full holidays have been announced for all schools on September 22, 2023.
