Closing schools in Delhi in Shahadra and Civil Lines
Schools closed in Delhi: Delhi MCD schools in Shahadra region were closed today due to flooding due to rising water levels of Yamuna river. About 10 schools in the lowlands of the MCD Delhi Civil Boundary and 7 schools in Shahadra were closed today.
On July 12, the Yamuna River rose to a record 207.83 meters, breaking the all-time record of 207.49 meters set 45 years ago. The Delhi Municipal Corporation in a statement mentioned that due to the flood-like situation in Delhi, the MCD Education Department has decided to close 10 schools in low-lying areas of the Civil District, six in Shahdra area (South) and a school. School in Shadhadra Area (North). On July 13, 2023, MCD added that online classes will be held for students of these schools.
Delhi’s Deputy Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena convened a meeting with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority to discuss the current flood situation and the excessive water level of the Yamuna River. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will also attend the meeting.

Schools in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh will remain closed until 15 July 2023 due to heavy rain. Ghaziabad’s district education official said schools would remain closed in the area due to heavy rains and the district judge also issued advice to locals warning of heavy rainfall in the city.
Himachal Pradesh is facing devastating floods. Due to incessant rains in the state, all public and private schools in the state are advised to remain closed due to local weather conditions. The government has asked school administrators to make decisions based on local conditions.
