Schools in Manipur are closed on 27th and 29th September 2023
Schools Closed in Manipur: School Education Board has announced closure of schools from 27th to 29th September 2023. As per the official notification released, all the schools in the state will be temporarily closed. All government/government aided/private unaided schools will remain closed on Wednesday and Friday.
Students and parents should contact their school administration for further information. Although the official notification did not specify the reason for the closure, reports indicate that this decision was taken due to the continued violence in Manipur.

Incessant violence in Manipur
According to media reports, around 45 students were injured in Manipur’s Imphal Valley as police fired tear gas and batons at a crowd protesting the killing of two youths who were allegedly abducted in July. Therefore, all government, government aided and private unaided schools will be closed on Wednesday and Friday.
Mobile internet services suspended for five days in Manipur
The Manipur government has again suspended the internet for the next five days in view of the adverse situation in the state. Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren Singh lifted the ongoing internet ban on 23 September 2023. Internet services were banned in Manipur from 3 May 2023.
An official order issued by the government says, “The State Government has decided to suspend/restrict Mobile Internet Data Services, VPN Internet/Data Services in the territorial jurisdiction of Manipur State for five days with immediate effect till 19:45 from 1st October 2023 .”
