Scott Frost New Job: Where Is He Going After Being Fired From Nebraska Cornhuskers?

Scott Frost is said to be joining the Iowa Hawkeyes after being released by the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Despite spending nearly five years at Nebraska, Frost was unable to lead the team to notable wins, leading to his dismissal in September 2022. Fans are now speculating about Frost’s new employment with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Scott Andrew Frost, born January 4, 1975, is a former American football coach and player. The Wood River High School graduate began his career at Stanford before transferring to Nebraska. The 1996 Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year helped the Cornhuskers win two national championships (1995 and 1997).

Scott was selected by the New York Jets in the third round (67th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft. He later played for the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After his playing career, Frost went on to coach at Nebraska, Kansas State, Northern Iowa, Oregon and UCF. During his coaching career, the 2017 AAC Coach of the Year won AP College Football Coach of the Year, Home Depot Coach of the Year and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year awards.

Are the Iowa Hawkeyes offering Scott Frost a new job?

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Head Coach Scott Frost will reportedly return to coaching sooner than planned. Furthermore, he may not be done creating difficulties for his old clubs. Despite the controversy surrounding Frost’s departure from Nebraska, he is still highly regarded and could soon find an offensive coordinator job. People believe that Scott could end up with the Iowa Hawkeyes. This would set up a rivalry between him and his old team.

However, it appears that Iowa’s more conventional offensive approach may not suit Frost. Brian Ferentz’s recent layoff lends credence to his chances of making the roster. That could lead to a coaching change and a chance for Frost to seek retribution. Despite the reports, Scott’s decision to join Iowa is not yet official.

Why was Scott Frost fired?

On December 2, 2017, Scott accepted the head football coaching position at his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Shortly after he took over as head coach, the team had its worst football season in a row. Frost’s 2019 season started well, but didn’t last long. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Nebraska’s 2020 season has been reduced to an eight-game conference schedule.

Furthermore, the team won just three games that season, defeating Penn State, Purdue and Rutgers. Nebraska Athletics Director Trev Alberts said in 2021 that Frost would return for the 2022 season, albeit with a $1 million reduction in compensation and a smaller buyout. Scott also fired four offensive assistant coaches that day. Nebraska finished the season 3-9.

The team was never good during his first four seasons as head coach at Nebraska. Frost was 5-20 in games decided by 8 points or less, 10-25 in Big Ten Conference games and 0-14 against ranked opponents. Scott became the first Nebraska head coach since Bill Jennings (1957-1961) to go without a winning season. Finally, Nebraska could not tolerate it any longer and fired Scott on September 11, 2022. It was the day after the Cornhuskers’ 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern.
