Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Alleged Drug Mule Brendan Paul Will Avoid Jail Time as He Accepts Plea Deal

Brendan Paul, Sean Diddy Combs’ alleged drug mule, made the deal.

PEOPLE has confirmed that Paul will avoid prison time after being arrested in March for possession of cocaine and marijuana amid federal sex-trafficking charges the hip-hop mogul is facing. The 25-year-old has now entered a drug diversion program.

“Brendan has accepted the prosecutor’s offer to be allowed to enter a diversion program that, upon completion, will have the case against him dismissed in its entirety,” Brian Bieber, Paul’s attorney, said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

A representative for the Miami-Dade DA said this is “a standard offer for a non-violent defendant with no prior,” TMZ reports.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Alleged Drug Mule, Brendan Paul Charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine

On March 27, Paul, a former Syracuse University basketball player, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana.

An affidavit obtained by PEOPLE says he was taken into custody at the Opa-Locka airport by Miami-Dade police working alongside Homeland Security agents, who raided Combs’ two homes around the same time that day. The statement said Paul was arrested after he was caught with suspected cocaine and marijuana in his travel bags.

Paul was previously named in a civil sexual assault lawsuit filed by Combs’ former producer and recording artist Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, in which Jones alleged that Paul was Combs’ “mule” who “procured” and “distributed” his “drugs and weapons” .”

Despite the arrest, he did not appear to be connected to the “I’ll Be Missing You” singer, 54.

Bieber’s attorney said in a statement to PEOPLE on March 27, “We have no plans to litigate this case in the media — all issues will be resolved in court.”

The Miami-Dade Police Department had no comment on the matter.

In April, Paul was charged with felony possession of cocaine. However, according to court documents, Paul’s additional criminal charge for the marijuana-laced candy was dismissed.

Alleged drug mule Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and former Syracuse basketball player arrested at Miami airport amid home raids

PEOPLE has confirmed that Bieber pleaded not guilty at a “very brief” hearing at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building in Miami, Fla., on behalf of Paul on April 24.

“We will be handling this case in a courtroom, not in the court of public opinion,” the attorney said in a statement to PEOPLE.

The hearing was then scheduled for Friday, May 17, but has now been cancelled.
