The excitement for the fifth season of Virgin River is building and now the first photos from the new episodes have been shared – but fans may have reason to worry about what’s to come.
The film, which stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, is returning to Netflix later this year, and a photo from the upcoming season shows Jack and Mel sitting together on the sofa looking enamored.

The on-screen couple has faced many ups and downs throughout its run so far, but season four ended on a high when they got engaged and Jack discovered that he was actually the father of Mel’s child. But will season 5 bring storms to the couple?
It’s not clear why the couple who met in the first series look disappointed in the photo, but there are several theories shared by fans that could explain it.

Meanwhile, other photos from the season paint a more positive picture. Another shot shows Jack and Mel smiling at each other as they sat in front of a bonfire by the lake, while a third scene shows Mel beaming as she crosses a long bridge with stunning views.

Netflix has confirmed that the fifth season A virgin river will be published on September 7th.

We don’t know the official synopsis for season five yet, but it will likely immediately follow the events that occurred at the end of season four, including the identity of Charmaine’s children’s father and Denny’s prognosis.

Executive producer and screenwriter Erin Cardillo told Tudum, “What you can expect from Season 5 is a lot of answers to the questions you’ve been waiting for.” She continued, “Hope’s recovery, the doctor’s diagnosis, Paige’s situation, Brie and Brady’s relationship.”
