At one point, Bhagwant Mann shared an anecdote in a Facebook post, revealing that during a surgery shortly after Serat was born, an instrument hit her in the head. Although she spent about ten days in the intensive care unit, she recovered. She spent her childhood in Chandigarh, India, and after her parents divorced, she moved to Auburn, Washington, with her mother and brother. From 2015 to 2018, she attended Auburn Mountain View High School in Auburn. From 2018 to 2022, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in Public Health-Global Health and minoring in Law, Society, and Justice (LSJ). In March 2015, Seerat Kaur’s parents filed a divorce petition in the SAS Nagar court. The application was filed under Section 13-B (divorce by mutual consent) of the Hindu Marriage Act. According to reports, Inderpreet disapproved of Bhagwant Mann’s political career. Hence, Bhagwant Mann and Inderpreet Kaur started to live apart. After their separation, Serat and Dilshan moved to Auburn, Washington, with their mother, while Bhagwant Mann shuttled between Delhi and Mohali, India. Later, Bhagwant Mann publicly claimed that he chose Punjab over his family. Mann, known for his use of poetry in political campaigns, posted a poem on his Facebook account expressing his views on divorce, which read:
Jo latkeya si chiran ton o hal ho geya, Court ch eh faisla kal ho geya, Ek passay parivar, dujje passay si parivar, Main tan yarro Punjab de wal ho geya. “

Seerat Kaur Mann attracted media attention when Bhagwant Mann became the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab in 2022. Seerat and Dilshan attended their father’s oath-taking ceremony on March 16, 2022, in Khatkar Kalan village, the birthplace of Indians. Revolutionary Bhagat Singh. Speaking to the media at the venue, Serat revealed that before 2022, she had visited her father in 2017 when he was contesting the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in the Jalalabad Assembly constituency. Talking about her CM father, she also said,
My father will work to solve the problem of unemployment in Punjab. I have high expectations for him and know he will keep all his promises. “

While studying health care, Serrat worked as a student research assistant at Seattle Children’s Hospital, a children’s hospital located in Seattle’s Laurelhurst neighborhood. She worked there for five months and joined the UW Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity in September 2021 as a student assistant. She is also part of the Washington State Opportunity Scholars Leadership Program. She is certified in the Northwest Public Health Practice Center’s “Safety at Every Stage: Injury and Violence Prevention and Brain Development” and “COVID-19 Information Navigation” programs. She is also certified in the CITI program’s Human Subjects Research (HSR) online course.

- During the 2014 Indian general elections in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann contested from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). At that time, Indrapreet was actively involved in her husband’s political journey and helped him win by delivering speeches in favor of AAP in the villages of Sangrur. Bhagwant Mann won the election by defeating Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa by a margin of 2,11,721 votes.

- She is actively involved with the Rivkin Center, a nonprofit organization in Seattle, Washington that funds ovarian cancer research projects. She is a campus ambassador for Rivkin EDU’s educational outreach program, which educates students at PAC’s 12 universities about breast and ovarian health.
