Selected $2 bills could be worth thousands of dollars, according to US Currency Auctions.
The auction site reports that some versions of the $2 bill are valued at nearly $5,000, depending on factors such as how and where they were printed.
In general, the site states that uncut $2 bills with red stamps can sell for $300 to $2,500, while those with brown or blue stamps can fetch in the hundreds.
Meanwhile, uncut $2 bills, especially those from 1890 with a brown or red stamp, can sell for up to $4,500.
More recent accounts from 2003 onwards, however, do not record an increase in value according to US currency auctions.

The $2 bill, which has been in circulation since 1862, has had six different designs over the years, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.
The front of the $2 bill currently features the face of Thomas Jefferson, while the reverse shows the Declaration of Independence at the time of signing.
According to USA Todaythe US Treasury once wanted to popularize the note in the early 20th century, but it failed and the government stopped issuing new $2 bills as a result.
However, they were later reintroduced in 1976 as the United States approached its bicentennial, the Treasury Department said.
Last year, $2 bills in circulation totaled $1.5 billion, a tiny fraction of the $54.1 billion in currency that circulated during the year, the Federal Reserve reported, per USA Today.
