Selena Gomez Attends High School Volleyball Game Upon Request: ‘They Asked!! Couldn’t Help It’

Selena Gomez is fulfilling her fans’ wishes — all they have to do is ask!

The Just the murders in the building star, 32, shared on Instagram on Saturday, August 31, that she attended a recent high school volleyball game in Telluride. She was in town in Colorado for the 2024 Telluride Film Festival promoting her film Emilia Pérez — and she couldn’t say no after fans put up a sign asking her to attend.

“They asked!! I couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!” Gomez captioned the post.

The first photo in the set was a bright orange note pinned to a bulletin board and addressed to the “Single Soon” singer. “Selena Gomez please sing the national anthem @ one of the [our] home games,” the message read. It was decorated with hearts and included the coach’s email.

While the post didn’t include footage of Gomez singing, footage did surface of the star walking into a school gym as someone screams her name.

“I saw the sign and I had to come,” she told the crowd as they laughed and gravitated towards her. Gomez took a group photo with the team and signed autographs in the crowded hallway.

Gomez’s fellow celebrities praised her high school visit. “Truly the kindest heart 🥹,” Zoe Saldaña wrote. “This is so sweet ❤️,” added Ashley Park. Gomez’s boyfriend Benny Blanco commented: “❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍.”

The multi-hyphenate appeared at the Telluride Film Festival on behalf of her recently released Netflix film Emilia Perez, director Jacques Audiard’s musical comedy-crime film about a lawyer in Mexico who receives an unexpected offer to help “a terrible cartel boss retire from his job and disappear forever by becoming the woman he’s always dreamed of,” according to the film’s synopsis.
