Several Trump Rallygoers Experience Mysterious Eye Injuries After Sitting on Stage: ‘It’s Unbearable’

At least six people who attended a recent Trump rally in Arizona suffered disturbing eye injuries from an unknown source after the event, according to reports.

Multiple guests at the Tucson Music Hall on Sept. 12, who were seated behind the former president on the rally stage, began experiencing intense eye pain afterward, NBC affiliate KVOA-TV reported.

“As soon as we left and got outside, my eyes were burning,” Mayra Rodriguez told the news station. At the end of her 90-minute drive home to Phoenix, Rodriguez said she decided to seek emergency care at the hospital.

“The emergency room staff, from the triage nurse to the PA [physician assistant] asked, ‘Are you sure they didn’t spray you with something?’ Your symptoms look like you were sprayed with something,’ she told KVOA.

The next day, Rodriguez — who rose to prominence in Republican circles as the Planned Parenthood director turned anti-choice advocate — was experiencing temporary blindness.

“I can’t see anything when I try to open my eyes. I see a bright light. It hurts, it hurts so much to open my eyes. I have this cold cloth that I keep putting on and taking off. It’s horrible,” she explained.

Her vision was improving earlier this week, according to KVOA.

Two other rally participants, a brother and sister, offered similar stories.

“It got worse and worse, my eyes watered a lot, my nose started to run, and then I started to feel that my face was very red and my neck was burning and it just progressed,” said the woman.

Her brother added: “Everything was focused on my eyes, my eyes were red as hell, you know, it’s unbearable. I couldn’t take it.”

Forty-eight people were selected to be on stage with Trump, and behind him they were split left and right, according to Newsweek. None of those seated on the left side reported injuries, according to the publication.

The Trump campaign told Rodriguez it was investigating the incident, and in a statement obtained by the news station it said it was “gathering information.”

“We remain committed to the countless patriots who attend our high-energy, high-impact rallies across the country,” the statement said.
