In March 2023, the Assam government suspended her from IAS over alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds cases. According to reports, she opened five bank accounts without the approval of the Assam government while serving as executive and director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). Her suspension was under Rule 3(1) of the All India Services (Disciples and Appeals) Rules, 1969. In April 2023, she and her son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh were accused of embezzling Rs. 105 Crores and no work orders were shown. After investigation, it was alleged that she had opened a fake institution to build smart classrooms with a budget of Rs. 130 million rupees. Other education officials involved in defrauding Rs. 100 crore including NL Sonowal, Jaychandra Lashkar, Ramizuddin Ahmed and fourth grade employee Rubul Ali. In May 2023, she and her son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh were arrested by the Assam Chief Vigilance Team in Rajasthan.
