Shaista Parveen is an Indian politician and the wife of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. Her name came into focus when police investigations revealed that she planned the murder of Umesh Pal in February 2023.

Shaista Parveen was born on Saturday, July 1, 1972 (age 50; as of 2022) in Dhoomanganj district of Prayagraj (then Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. Although she belongs to Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj; however, as her father is a police officer, she spent her childhood in Pratapgrah area of Prayagraj and also learned the tactics of the police department due to her close relationship with the police. In 2017, after her husband Atiq was jailed and police began filing FIRs, she began seeking political cover for her family so that she could keep Assad’s political background intact in the hope of ensuring Assad Released. She joined the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in September 2021 and attended an event attended by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.
Later, she held several rallies for AIMIM, where she read out a message from Atiq in which she said Muslims should vote for him as they had no political representation, forcing them to take up menial jobs like bicycle repairs.
She joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on January 5, 2023 at a grand event. There were rumors that she would contest the Prayagraj mayoral election as a BSP candidate; however, she was later excluded as a mayoral candidate. When she joined the Socialist Party of the Philippines, she said Muslim and Dalit votes were important to her and she would work for their progress. she says,
The union of Dalits and Muslims can work wonders in politics not just in Uttar Pradesh but across the country. But I feel that when the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor becomes the chief minister of the country, things will become good and beneficial. ”

Named an accomplice in the murder of Umesh Pal
Umesh Pal, brother of former BSP MLA Raju Pal, was murdered in broad daylight on February 24, 2023, in Prayagraj. Umesh is the key witness in the Rajupal kidnapping case. Two police officers were also killed in the shootout. The police later filed an FIR against Shaista Parveen, her husband Atiq Ahmed, her son Asad, Atiq’s brother Ashraf and four other criminals named Guddu Islam, Armaan, Ghulam and Sabir, who are accused in the case. Later, as police investigated the details, they learned of her role in the murder. They found that she frequently organized meetings between Atik and other gang members. To evade arrest, she fled to an unknown location, following which the police announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on her on March 12, 2023. She subsequently approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in March 2023 for anticipatory bail; however, the appeal was dismissed. The Uttar Pradesh police later doubled the reward on her to Rs 50,000 in April 2023. There are rumors that she will surrender to pay her last respects to her son Asad, who was killed in a clash in Jhansi on April 13, 2023.

- In 2009, three cases related to kidnapping, threats and Arms Act were registered against her; a charge sheet was also filed.
- In 2017, she allegedly used her mobile phone to keep in touch with him and run her gang, IS-227, with the help of her son and other relatives.
- She later became a notorious figure as many claimed she threatened them using Atiq’s name and often planned deadly attacks against them.
- She alleged that in January 2021, her parents’ house in Prayagraj Chakia area was attacked at midnight by drunken policemen who scaled the wall of the house. She claimed that there were only women in the house at the time and the police misbehaved with them. she says,
There was no male in the family at that time. Police woke them up and conducted a search of the house, during which they searched rooms and behaved inappropriately towards the family. ”
- She filed an application with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in March 2023, claiming that her two minor sons, Azhaan and Abaan, were illegally detained by the police and that she could not see them. The two boys were found in Kasarimasari area and sent to the Juvenile Detention Center in Khurdabad, police said in their reply.
- Rumor has it that she often visited the home of a brother-in-law who was posted to Varanasi as a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police.
- According to a leaked call recording between Shaista and Atiq in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, she was unhappy when Asad was named as one of the accused in the Umesh Pal murder case; however, Atiq rebuked her and said that Sade is “Shere Ka Beta”.
- The police department had difficulty releasing her poster because she was always photographed wearing a veil in public; however, they discovered a photo of her face in one of the wedding albums before they released it her poster.

- Rumor has it that she incited Atiq and other gang members to publicly kill Umesh Pal in retaliation for their insult so that the public would continue to fear them.
