It came after his Sky Sports colleague Micah Richards was seen pinning a man against a wall as footage of the altercation emerged last night.

It is said that both experts were shaken after the incident.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested today on suspicion of assault.

A spokesman said: “Police are investigating an incident at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 3, during which a man was assaulted.

“On Monday 4 September, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH). The man has been taken into police custody. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Witnesses revealed Keane called nearby staff to call the police.

Sun Sport understands Sky are now beefing up their security.

Keane and Richards waited by the lift as they made their way up the pitch as the game drew to a close.

But both tried to return to the Sky studio after Alejandro Garnach had a goal ruled out for offside.

The pair were eventually escorted out by security, where they were both able to give their post-match analysis to Sky.

Arsenal are cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.

A club spokesman added: “We are aware of the incident that took place during our game against Manchester United on Sunday.

“The Metropolitan Police are investigating this matter and we are fully cooperating with their inquiries.”

A Sky Sports spokesman said: “We understand police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public shortly before the footage was circulated on social media.

“In the video seen, Micah Richards acted to defuse the situation.”

A spokesman for the Meteorological Police confirmed that the police had launched an investigation.

The statement said: “Police are investigating following an attack which allegedly took place at the Emirates Stadium during the Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday 3 September.”

The two experts formed an unlikely bond, having played for fierce rivals Man City and Man United.

They are regulars on Sky’s Super Sunday program and are likely to return to TV screens together after the international break on September 17.
