Shameless Joey Barton goads Laura Woods and Bianca Westwood amid storm over sexist remarks about female footie pundits

SHAMELESS Joey Barton has forced Laura Woods and Bianca Westwood to fight him over his sexist views on women in football.

On Thursday, the former Newcastle and Manchester City star launched a tirade against the female pundits and co-commentators working the men’s game.

He doubled down on his comments in an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where Sky Sports journalist Bianca Westwood challenged his views.

Barton, 41, reached out to X again to invite Westwood and Woods to a discussion on his new Common Sense podcast, after both shared their views on his remarks.

The former midfielder wrote: “You both follow me. Not the other way around. So why the silence?

“Do you both have something to hide? 🤣🤣🤣

“You can come and argue. Just be prepared.

“I’ll take your silence as a sign that you know it’s not for you. Screaming from the rooftops yesterday. Weeds are blowing across the vast expanse today. It’s all telling…”

Neither Woods nor Westwood responded to Barton’s taunt, so he stepped up his efforts by questioning why they chose to remain silent.

He added: “Laura Woods and Bianca Westwood won’t be on the show. They’re not brave enough. Much to say yesterday?

“You should have kept your heads down. Something to hide the girls?

“Kitty ate your tongue today!”

Both Woods and Westwood have said they don’t want to be drawn into the controversy, but have come to the defense of the vlogger, who Barton instigated.

Barton also responded to several men who took issue with his comments by calling them “eunuchs.”

Yesterday Woods tweeted: “I usually avoid these conversations because I don’t like adding more oxygen. But throwing young vloggers to the wolves is wrong.

“I started my career vlogging and I always got along with Joey. He also sent me a nice happy note for TNT in June. Does that make him a eunuch?🤔

“Joey is entitled to his opinion. If he feels so strongly about women in a man’s game, he could request a private interview with the broadcasters and state his case.

“These tweets are just encouraging a bunch of women to get on with their jobs. Or was that the intention?”

Pundit and TV presenter Alex Scott was also embroiled in the saga after Barton claimed she “shouldn’t be commentating on a man’s game”, claiming she was not qualified to do so.

The Life and Crimes of Joey Barton

FORMER Man City star Joey Barton has a long list of controversies.

In May 2008, he was jailed for six months for an attack in Liverpool and served 74 days behind bars.

He was also given a four-month suspended sentence for attacking former City team-mate Ousmane Dabo.

Barton once stubbed out his cigar in another teammate’s EYE during a Christmas party.

He was handed a 12-match ban for elbowing Carlos Tevez in the neck in 2012 – and was fined for dropping his shorts on Everton fans.

Joey’s brother Michael was sentenced to life in prison for the 2005 murder of 18-year-old Anthony Walker.

Shockingly, Barton called the brutal racist attack a “disgrace”.

The former England and Arsenal star laughed off Barton’s comment before an interview with his BBC colleague, with many others strongly condemning his views.

And on Friday night, she took to Twitter as she shared an article talking about her charity work.

She wrote: “The only thing I want to oxygenate today on this platform and raise my voice now is this article below and how honored I am to have spent the day yesterday with Refuge Charity who continue to do such incredibly vital work for women and children.”

Barton later extended his podcast invitation to all “top male players and ex-players” who disagreed with his views, while declaring himself the “king” of X.

The former QPR star then turned her attention to all women working in the men’s game – not just football pundits and broadcasters.

He wrote on X: “The number of times in my professional life I’ve seen women compromise themselves in a man’s game is ridiculous. I’ve actually lost the price.

“The female staff sends naked pictures to the players. That they have full affairs and cost people their marriages.

“You had to experience it to believe it. It happens all the time.

“I think it’s very dangerous to have women in certain roles in certain departments in men’s football because ultimately, as my good friend PK would say, ‘They’re not made of wood, lad!’ That’s a recipe for disaster.”
