Shamita Shetty is an Indian actress and interior designer. She is popular for her roles in the films Mohabbatein (2000), Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002) and Zeher (2005). She is also known for being the sister of Bollywood celebrity Shilpa Shetty.

She attended St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School in Mumbai. Thereafter, she pursued a degree in commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Fascinated by colors and design, she gave up business after pursuing a three-year course in fashion design at SNDT Women’s College in Mumbai. After a period as an actress, she studied first at Inchbold College of Design and later at Central Saint Martins in London, where she studied interior design and decoration.

Interior design
When she took a break from the entertainment industry, she was offered the opportunity to design a nightclub that was acquired by her family in Mumbai called Royalty.

In a 2017 interview, she revealed that she had designed the interior of a nightclub before taking an interior design course. she says,
I just happened to do the interior design of a nightclub and I did it without any technical knowledge… That’s when I decided that when I do something… I want what I do to be technically reasonable. “
After completing an interior design course in London, she returned to India and worked with an architect for a year. She has since established her own company, Golden Leaf Interiors. She has also designed the IOSIS Spa in Chandigarh and several properties abroad.
