Shania Twain Says Taylor Swift Wearing Her Face on a T-Shirt Was ‘Really Cool’

Shania Twain is Swifty!

The country icon, 58, had nothing but praise for Taylor Swift when asked how she felt about the singer wearing her face on a T-shirt during an outing in New York in early October.

“It’s really cool. I think that was sweet of her,” she said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Tuesday. Twain added that she thinks Swift, 33, is a “doll” and a “great role model for girls.”

“I’m all for it,” Twain continued. “Like, I feel like I’m her aunt or something. We’re matched in a lot of ways, and I really have a lot of respect and compassion for her.” The “Forever and Forever” star also took the opportunity to compliment the “Shake It Off” singer’s work ethic.

“The weight of any young artist in her position is huge and she gets through it seemingly effortlessly, but we all know that’s not the case,” she said.

Swift was spotted wearing a Shania Twain “Any Man of Mine” T-shirt by Free People alongside friend Keleigh Sperry outside Electric Lady Studios in New York City on Tuesday, October 3rd. She paired the Twain outfit with cycling shorts, white New Balance sneakers, a baseball cap and a small Louis Vuitton bag

Twain is currently performing across North America as part of her Queen of Me World Tour. In May 2024, he will begin a residency at the Bakkt Theater in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood. She previously revealed to PEOPLE that she is looking forward to the opportunity to show off her passion for fashion at fashion shows.

“I’m going to be playing more with fashion in the Come on Over residency because … I’ve discovered the joy of creating my own style,” she said in August. “I have always cooperated, but this is a completely different level. I’ll be doing more of that in the Come on Over residency.”

Swift has also found success on the road with her career Eras Tour. The tour even inspired the release of a concert film titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tourwhich hit theaters nationwide on October 13 and became the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

Announcing the news of the film in August, Swift posted on Instagram: “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electrifying experience of my life so far, and I’m so excited to tell you it’s coming to the big screen soon 😆.” She also encouraged fans to bring their “Eras clothes, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing.”
