Shankar Aswath is a South Indian actor and a taxi driver. He is the son of the legendary South Indian actor late KS Ashwath.

His wife Sudha Shankar Ashwath runs a catering service company ‘Annapoorna Caterers’ in Mysuru. Shankar Ashwath’s son Skanda R Ashwath is a national-level swimmer and works as a swimming coach at the University of Mysore.
Profession
He followed in his father’s footsteps and started his acting career. He has acted in many Kannada films such as Nirbandha (1996), Nandhi (2002), Raaj the Showman (2009) and RangiTaranga (2015).
He worked in the South Indian film industry for almost 25 years but never got a better opportunity. He then started working as a taxi driver for Uber (a private taxi operating company) in Bengaluru. In 2021, he participated in the television reality show Bigg Boss Kannada 8 hosted by famous South Indian actor Sudeep.

- In an interview, he talked about the job of a taxi driver, saying,
My father (KS Ashwath) taught me to live a self-sufficient life and not to make any compromises. I don’t ask for help from others. Everyone needs to work until they are healthy and save money for their old age. When there was no work in the industry, I drove a taxi and I have no regrets about it.”
- According to him, he was not getting good roles due to his age and the generation gap in the film industry.
- He always wears a hat when driving a taxi to avoid answering questions from passengers about his identity. In an interview, he said that he has never been ashamed of his job as a taxi driver. He further said,
My father would be proud of my work. I stopped my Uber taxi to pay tribute to his picture hanging on a courtyard wall on a street in Mysore.
