Shannon Storms Beador’s The Real Housewives of Orange County she wasn’t afraid to call out her alcohol intake just 10 days before she was arrested for DUI.
The topic came up on Wednesday’s second and final episode of the Season 17 reunion when Heather DuBrow asked Shannon, 59, if she honestly believes the former acts like she has a “Machiavellian” character.
When Shannon said she did, Heather, 54, told her matter-of-factly: “Don’t be mad at me. You tend to drink and call some of us.”
“That’s a freaking thing to say to me, but okay,” Shannon replied. However, Heather insisted, “It’s not. You are the town messenger!”
“Do I sometimes go out and drink?” Shannon asked rhetorically. “If you say that I need rehabilitation, if you paint a picture so that I call people every night…”

“If you say I can breathalyze,” she said, addressing Emily Simpson, who interjected, “You should! I think it’s a good invention. I think you should put that on your phone.”
Turning her attention back to Heather, Shannon said, “You say it’s my truth serum when I haven’t had an intimate conversation.”
However, Gina Kirschenheiter said of Shannon’s relationship with alcohol: “You don’t want to watch it at all, though, Shannon. You don’t want to look at it all.”
“You don’t know anything about my personal, in-depth life,” asserted Shannon, who wanted to “repeat [to] Gina, I don’t like you.”
Shannon then addressed the root of her problem with her 39-year-old costar: “From the beginning when you started the show, you said in your first season, when I was going through my acrimonious divorce, I was masking it with alcohol. And I said, ‘Have I drunk more this season?’ Apso-freaking-lutely, I am.”
Gina defended herself by saying, “It’s our job to say what we feel and to tell the truth about what’s going on.”
“You know what my job is? My job is to be Shannon Storms Beador, so I’m not going to look at this and go, ‘Well, I’m on a reality show, so I’m going to act different.’ I act the way I am,” she retorted.

Ten days after the reunion taping, PEOPLE confirmed that Shannon was “arrested at 1:17 a.m. on Sept. 17 after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident,” according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
The NBPD also confirmed that the reality star “was cited for two misdemeanors — hit and run and DUI. She was released on bond.”
According to TMZ’s first report, Shannon was found by police walking her dog after allegedly leaving her car in the middle of the road.
A day after her arrest, Shannon’s attorney Michael L. Fell told PEOPLE in a statement that the Bravolebrity is “profoundly apologetic” for her actions.
I spent a lot of time with Shannon yesterday, Fell said. “She is very apologetic and remorseful. We will await official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions.”

At another gathering on Wednesday, Shannon opened up about her tumultuous relationship with ex John Janssen.
“We’d fight because what would happen is he’d leave and I’d be a ghost and I wouldn’t talk to him for days and it would paralyze me because I’ve never been more in love with anyone in my life than John Janssen. And he said I’m ready to take the next step with you,” Shannon said tearfully.
When host Andy Cohen asked why John would say he planned to end their relationship, Gina explained that he was “trying to get through the shoot so he wouldn’t look bad.”
“He said it on camera and a week later he broke up with me,” Shannon revealed as she wiped away tears with a tissue.

She later said, “He broke my fucking heart, and can I look back at certain scenes and see that he was signed out? I absolutely can.”
She continued, “But I’m embarrassed. I feel like I’m a smart person who has a half-decent head on her shoulder and it’s like, ‘God, look at the way she’s looking at you’ or ‘Didn’t you see that then?'”
However, Andy mentioned how Shannon spent time together after they split, prompting the women to urge her to “cut ties” with John. But she admitted to Andy (55) that John is “sometimes” a friend with benefits.
Shannon exclusively told PEOPLE in January that she was “blindsided by the breakup.” The couple broke up after three years of dating when they met through mutual friends in 2019. That July, they announced their romance to PEOPLE.
“All I can do is replay in my head what he said while we were filming,” she said when asked to reflect on what led to the split. “We were in a great place. But seven days later, when the cameras were off, it was a completely different story. He told me he was done with the relationship. And to hear what he said then was absolutely devastating.”
I’ve never loved anyone more in my life, Shannon said of John. “I hoped this was the man I would spend the rest of my life with. I wanted it to work. I’ve never loved anyone the way I loved John. But obviously, he didn’t feel the same way.”
