Shannon Sharpe Addresses His Ongoing Feud with Shaquille O’Neal: 'I'm Ready to Move On' (Exclusive)

The recent internet feud between Shannon Sharpe and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal continues to intrigue sports fans — and Sharpe just addressed the situation on the Webby Awards red carpet on Monday, May 13.

Earlier this month, Sharpe and O’Neal’s disagreement over the 2024 NBA MVP selection led to a war of words that included an unexpected diss track from O’Neal on May 10.

Speaking on the red carpet for this year’s Webby Awards celebrating the best in online content on May 13, Sharpe told PEOPLE he has no problem with the NBA legend and is ready to move on.

Asked if he had anything else to say to O’Neal, Sharpe (55) said no.

“I mean, I don’t have a problem with Shaq,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer told PEOPLE. – He said what he said, I’m ready to move on.

The feud between the two athletes began when Sharpe accused O’Neal of being jealous of Denver Nuggets player Nikola Jokic. After Jokić won his third NBA MVP title in four years on May 8, O’Neal interviewed him for Within the NBAhe eventually told Jokic, 29, that he thought the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should have received the award instead.

Sharpe, who disagreed with O’Neal’s comment, shared on his podcast Nightcap that he believes O’Neal — who has only one MVP trophy from his Hall of Fame NBA career — was partially “envious of that,” referring to Jokic’s longer list of MVP honors.

Following O’Neal who shoots at Club Shay Shay podcast host on Instagram for not being “ranked in the top 10” of his own “profession,” upped the ante and came back with some lines urging Sharpe to make his case further.

O’Neal said Sharpe was “way below me” in the song and called Sharpe’s podcast a “bulls— podcast.”

“Your whole demeanor’s faker than the new rapper fat/ You’re soft before you fly, you’d rather tweet me/ I’ve been in three different cars when you’ve been on three feet/ All I see are dollar signs, they go in 3-D, ” said O’Neal, “Make it hot, ain’t no way around my degree/ You are not in my place, you are like piewee.”
