Sharna Burgess Says She and Fiancé Brian Austin Green ‘Haven’t Even Talked About’ Wedding Plans (Exclusive)

Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green are in no rush to plan their wedding!

On Friday, the couple made the announcement during an episode of the iHeartRadio podcast Elderly that they’ve been engaged for two months, following their radio reveal with a sweet joint Instagram post featuring their blended family’s hands — and Burgess’s ring! — and titled, “our latest chapter.”

That same night, Burgess, 38, and Green, 50, attended the iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about their happy news and plans for the big day!

“We just kind of kept it to ourselves and our family and closest friends, like people in our sphere and our circle,” Green tells PEOPLE, adding that he loved that the engagement was just their “moment” that not many people know about.

Still, despite the fact that Green and Burgess have been engaged for two months, they tell PEOPLE that they have yet to make wedding plans. “We haven’t talked about it at all. We’ve had such a full life with stuff and four kids at home and we’re in no rush,” Burgess tells PEOPLE. “Honestly, I am very grateful to be able to say that he is now my fiancé and not my boyfriend.”

Green agrees, noting to PEOPLE that it’s a “big deal” that he no longer calls his partner of three years “girlfriend.” “Now we have a 15-month-old child. She’s honestly a mother to the other kids that are in the house, and it got to the point where it felt like it wasn’t fair to our relationship,” he adds, referring to the couple’s son Zane Walker, 1.

“I spent too much time thinking about how to publish it,” she says. “Once I really understood my internal dialogue of obsessing over what this photo was going to be and what was the best way to do it, I thought, ‘this just isn’t about that.’ And I completely freed myself from that and simply stayed in our world.” In the end, Green and Burgess shared the ring with fans during a beautiful Instagram video that showed their blended family’s hands on top of each other on Friday.

Green’s hand was lowered first and Burgess’s hand was lowered last, indicating that she was wearing the diamond. In between, Zane, Noah, Bodhi and Journey’s hands seemed to join in a family moment. The big news about the couple was first announced when Burgess was in favor Elderly Podcast host Randy Spelling said she and Green have been engaged for two months, but have been holding back on sharing the happy news until now.

Green revealed he “did the thing” – meaning propose – during a surprise 50th birthday party Burgess threw for him in June. “I thought, ‘That’s the perfect place for it,'” Green said. Meanwhile, his now-fiancee said she “never saw it coming.”

During the party, the couple recalled to Spelling that Green asked Burgess to join him upstairs and took her to their bedroom. When Green’s children joined them — including Journey River, who was holding a red Cartier box — the actor took the box and opened it. Burgess recalled asking her, “Are you going to spend the rest of your life with us?”

“Of course I said yes,” she said, describing Green’s proposal as “the most perfect, beautiful moment” because of the children’s involvement.

The couple got engaged just weeks after celebrating their son Zane’s first birthday in June, and back in March, Green told PEOPLE on the red carpet at the 2023 iHeart Radio Awards that Burgess would go overboard to spoil their boy on his special day .

“They’re going to end up buying him a house and things like that, a bunch of stuff he doesn’t need,” he said. “But she just goes, ‘Oh my God, I’ve got a one-year-old,’ and she goes crazy.”
