Shaun White Reveals the First Place He'll Take Girlfriend Nina Dobrev After She's Recovered From Bike Accident (Exclusive)

Shaun White can’t wait to travel the world again with girlfriend Nina Dobrev!

The five-time Olympian, 37, revealed some of the destinations he likes to visit with vampire Diaries alum, 35, while speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about his partnership with the Aruba Tourism Authority.

While Dobrev will continue to recover during their travels as she recovers from her motorcycle accident, White says they are excited to visit Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics in July.

“He probably has another week or two, and then he won’t be on crutches anymore, which will be really nice,” the WHITESPACE founder says of his favorite travel buddy. “But yeah, we’re planning to go to the Summer Olympics and cheer on some friends in skateboarding and fencing.”

The three-time Olympic gold medalist — who will retire from his competitive snowboarding career in 2022 — adds that his girlfriend is recovering “more diligently” than he did when he competed in the games.

“She’s such a trooper. I mean, she really took her recovery so seriously,” she tells PEOPLE. “She’s icing, she’s taking peptides, she’s doing this daily therapy. Honestly, she’s more diligent than me even when I was competing. So she recovered very quickly.”

The Love Hard the actress was riding a motorcycle when she was injured and had to undergo surgery in May. She previously told her Instagram followers that she had a “long road to recovery” ahead of her after the incident.

While White is proud of Dobrev’s strict routine, he notes his concerns about attending matches.

“I’m a little nervous about the games with her — it’s a lot of walking. We’re just going to get her some kind of chair or something, but we’re going to style it with some ribbons and we’re going to make it festive,” he jokes.

In addition to the trip to Paris, White says he and Dobrev can’t wait to visit their friend Aaron Paul at his “amazing” home in Idaho. After a recent vacation in Aruba, the retired professional snowboarder says that Paul’s property can be compared to an island destination because he is always so relaxed when he is there.

“We went there last summer and he invited us back, so I’m so thrilled,” says White Fr Breaking Bad alum. “Other than Aruba, this is the most amazing place to relax.”

He adds that the place is so “unique and cozy” because it is “in the woods with a stream” nearby.

“It’s fun because it feels like family time,” she continues. “So we’re excited to hang out with him.”

Of his time in Aruba, White says he had “a lot of fun” teaming up with the Aruba Tourism Authority to host the Relaxathon.

The one-hour event held on June 13 featured 100 contestants from around the world competing to win the title of “World’s Greatest Relaxer” and taking home gold, silver and bronze prize packages.

White explains that each competitor had to wear a heart monitor and whoever had the lowest heart rate at the end of the competition was declared the winner.

“It was so much fun,” he recalls. “Aruba is a beautiful place — I’ve never been before. The water was so warm, calm and blue. It’s definitely one of those places you see on your computer screensaver.”
