Sheikh Darvesh Saheb aka Sheikh Darvesh Sahib aka Shaik Dr. Darvesh Saheb was born on Friday, July 10, 1964 (age 59; as of 2023) in Besta Veedhi village, Badvel city, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He teaches in Telugu at Government Junior College Polumamila, Andhra Pradesh. He subsequently pursued Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture from Sri Venkateswara Agriculture College, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and Master of Science in Agriculture from the same college under the guidance of former Dean of Agriculture, Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Degree (MSc). ), Dr. T. After passing the UPSC examination in 1990, he was posted as the Kerala cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS) on September 16, 1991. He started serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Nedumangadh and after completing two years probation, he was confirmed as IPS officer on September 16, 1993. Later, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Wayanad, Kasaragod, Kannur, Palakkad, Railways and State Special Branch. He has also served as the Commanding Officer of the Malabar Special Police (MSP) and the 2nd Battalion of the Kerala Armed Police (KAP). He also served as Adjutant to the Governor (ADC) and participated in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. He also served as Commissioner of Police (SP rank), Kochi.

Later, he served as Assistant Director and Deputy Director, Information Technology, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPPNA), Hyderabad. He has served as Inspector of SBCID, Police Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram Range, Thrissur Range and Armed Police Battalion. He also served as Additional Excise Commissioner and Director of Kerala Police Academy. After promotion to ADGP, he served in the Police Headquarters, Vigilance Branch, Crime Branch, Northern Zone and Sheriff Department. He has also served as the director of the Kerala Police Academy, jail superintendent and chief of the fire and rescue department. After assuming charge on June 27, 2023, he assumed charge as Director General of Police (DGP), Kerala, on July 1, 2023. He was originally scheduled to retire on July 31, 2024; however, after being appointed as DGP, his retirement period was extended to June 30, 2025, for a period of two years.

  • He filed a sexual harassment-related case against former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy after three police officers refused to do so based on the allegations.
