Shelter Dog Breaks Out of Kennel, Sets Off Alarm and Tries to Free Friends Before Getting Busted

A dog named King briefly ruled an Arizona shelter after he got out of his kennel during the night.

The incident happened at Lost Our Home Pet Rescue in Tempe. According to FOX 10, King escaped from his kennel and turned the shelter into his playground, setting off several alarms in the facility in the process.

“The alarm went off. It was, you know, 12 o’clock, 1 o’clock in the morning, and I immediately looked to see what was going on and I couldn’t find anything going on, and then I saw the mess, and I was like, oh my God.” , the shelter’s founder, Jodi Polanski, recounted her reaction after seeing the security camera footage of King’s escape.

The hero dog of a family from Florida saved a teenager from a fire on New Year’s Eve: ‘He just bit him’

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue shared a compilation of security footage of King’s great (and short) escape on Facebook and YouTube. In it, King escapes from his enclosure and tries to free the other dogs by opening several doors. In another clip, the clever pup finds a stash of dog food and enjoys a late-night snack, throwing food and other items on the floor in the shelter’s office.

The king’s rule over the shelter was short-lived. Because the dog’s escape set off alarms at the shelter, police were called to the scene and arrested the dog in the middle of its prison break.

“The police actually came because he set off the alarm, and it kept going off over and over again,” Polanski explained to Fox 10. The officer, who chose to remain anonymous but was dubbed “Mr. Clean” by the outlet, appears on the video entering to the rescue and pet the visibly excited king as he notices the mess made by the puppy.

Dog adopted by celebrity after left tied up in park: ‘He’ll never be without’ love

In the narration of the King’s escape video, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue mentions that the Tempe Police Department “has 24-hour access” to the shelter through a partnership that allows officers to bring in “pets in need.”

The rest of the footage of the incident shows the responding officer safely returning King to bed. Afterwards, the policeman takes a broom to sweep up and organize the chaos left behind by the mischievous dog.

“Tempe Police were called to the scene for what can only be described as the cutest arrest ever! This dog had amazing skills! And one of the best cops ever who went above and beyond the call of duty cleaning up the mess the dog made,” wrote Lost Our Home Pet Rescue on Facebook.
