Shelter for rescued pit bulls napping together every night

Damian and Romeo are dogs that were rescued together when they were just 5 years old.

The cubs were unfortunately dehydrated, malnourished and lost weight when discovered by the Nassau County SPCA, with prominent flanks, ribs and spines.

The pit bulls were immediately taken to a local veterinary clinic to begin the care they apparently never received.

The dogs were examined by veterinarians and it was discovered that Romeo, among other problems, had a metal foreign body in his stomach.

The two dogs have a long way to go for treatment, but the suffering and abandoned pit bulls have not become a hindrance to their morale.

Both Damian and Romeo need human contact and love whoever helps them heal.

Maria Mora, SPCA Executive Director of Nassau County said both pit bulls are beautiful. Kissing is their typical act. They need training to improve their behavior.

Although they love people, Damian and Romeo have a very strong bond and are always there to comfort each other as they recover and wait to be found by their perfect permanent home.

While Damian and Romeo were napping, the pit bulls kept wanting to snuggle up and touch each other. This is the cutest and sweetest scene ever.

Mora added that the bulls will be adopted once they receive a medical certificate, which they expect to have right now.

Damian and Romeo overcame many difficulties, but with the love and mutual support of the rescuers, they wanted to move on and accept a second chance.

Please contact the Nassau County SPCA if you are interested in adopting Romeo or Damian (or both).
