Shenae Grimes-Beech Claps Back at People Saying She’s ‘Aged Terribly’

Shenae Grimes-Beech is tired of hearing what people think about her looks.

The Canadian actress, 33, shared a lengthy video on Instagram on Thursday in which she addresses negative comments about her appearance and the problems she faces as an older woman in the public eye.

“I want to let you in on a little secret. If you see a woman over 30 years old here, and she doesn’t look a bit like this,” she said, pointing to the panic-leg-like lines around her eyes and lines on her forehead. “It’s more than likely that something was injected into her face.”

An actress who became famous on shows like Degrassi and 90210she wrote alongside the post that she’s often told she’s “aged horribly” whenever she posts a “nostalgic clip” from when she was a “teenage actress.”

Kim Cattrall, 66, says she’s open to anti-aging botox and fillers ‘Any way I can’

“The thing is… I’m just… getting old. I am almost 34 years old and have two children, what the hell do you expect?!” she wrote in the video.

“My face moves and I have wrinkles to prove it,” she further stated in the video. “You’re comparing it to people who literally have chemicals injected into their faces to prevent the wrinkles that a person’s face naturally does when gravity and genetics start to take their toll.”

In the video, she said she’s not “shaming” anyone for getting Botox, but instead wants to advocate for more transparency when it comes to the procedures they’ve had, especially on social media because it could affect others.

“We actually started to believe that you could look like that without injecting anything into your face,” she said.

“There’s no shame in the botox game, but can we at least be a little more transparent about it?” she asked. “Because there are people who look at others on the Internet and think, ‘What the hell is wrong with me? Why do I look so old?’ Or people on the internet, like yours truly, who get comments about how I’ve aged miserably.”

The actress said that she herself “personally knows” how easy it is to “harshly judge yourself” when you are faced with photos and videos of “seemingly easy ‘perfection'” every day, but that she wanted to do her part to dispel the distorted ” perception” of women and aging.

She ended the caption of her post by thanking the women “who bring transparency to this topic” despite the “harsh judgment” of others and wrote: “Let’s all try to be a little more open and a heck of a lot kinder, please! !!”
