Sheryl Underwood, co-host of The Talk, recently spoke to People about her struggle to lose 95 pounds. During the broadcast of her current show, the popular TV personality celebrated her 59th birthday with a transformation. The presenter was spotted in a vibrant purple dress and told the newspaper she tried on ten different dresses before finding the one that gave her the “Dorothy Effect”. Underwood said she addressed her gut health before embarking on a general fitness adventure. She faces diabetes, high blood pressure and “all the other problems women struggle with” in addition to losing weight. The media star said she feels “wonderful” about her transformation and is looking forward to working with The Talk co-hosts. In an interview with People, Sheryl Underwood revealed more about her weight loss process. She says she started her journey when she weighed between 230 and 250 pounds and that her doctor ordered prediabetes and hypertension testing. Sheryl also said that she should have had weight loss surgery, but decided to try Wegovy injections instead. The FDA approved the weekly injection in June 2021 to help control appetite.

Sheryl Underwood attempted to control portion sizes and other everyday behaviors with the shot. To that, she replied that she planned to have surgery, but then she would have to “see a psychologist” and a nutritionist. She said she lost weight thanks to working with a dietitian. Although she didn’t lose much weight, she did lose enough that “insurance won’t pay for it.”

She also accepts lifestyle changes such as sleeping more, drinking more water and eating healthier foods. Underwood said she started eating more green leafy vegetables and fruits like blueberries and strawberries, as well as adding fiber to her diet.
