Shikha Malhotra is an Indian actress, presenter and nurse. She was given the nickname “Covid Warrior” by various media outlets for serving around 100 consecutive days in a Mumbai hospital during Covid-19. She is best known for her role as “Kajri” in the Indian historical film Kaanchli: Life in the Quagmire.

In 2020, when COVID-19 was spreading in India, Shikha volunteered as a nurse at BMC Hospital in Mumbai. Soon she was promoted to patient advisor as well, after which she began counseling nervous patients. Speaking about it in an interview, she said,
I couldn’t sit at home when I heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the nation about the 21-day lockdown. As someone with a medical background, I realize the situation is serious. I started visiting hospitals in Mumbai from the next day until I found a government hospital. I was directed to the medical director who then placed me in the Covid-19 isolation ward as they needed staff. ”
worsening of health
While working as a nurse during COVID-19, Shikha contracted the virus and tested positive on October 2, 2020. It took her more than a month to recover. While she was recovering from the coronavirus, she suffered a stroke on December 10, 2020, which left her paralyzed on the right side of her body. Initially, she was admitted to Cooper Hospital, but when her health did not improve, she was transferred to KEM Hospital. In an interview, she spoke about the incident and said:
My right side was paralyzed. I thought I would never walk again or die, but my spirit got me through it. ”
Later, due to excessive steroid intake during treatment, she began to gain weight. It took her more than two years to fully recover. After recovering from the illness, she shared photos of herself online, showing off her body transformation.
