She was 18 when we got married (1982). When she was 19, my son Siddhanth was born. This was the first time Shivangi’s mother spoke to her since our marriage, when she came to pick her up at Breach Candy Hospital. “
Shakti further said,
Shivangi’s family didn’t approve of our relationship. My father Sikandar Lal Kapoor in Delhi came to know about this and he decided not to talk to me. My mom asked him to meet the girl once. When he saw Shivangi who is 10-12 years younger than me, he was like badi pyaari bachhi hai (he said she is really nice). She sang a few lines, and her father stood up and asked her how she could sing so well. I told Lata ji that he was her cousin and he stood up and said, “Teri sab galtiyaan maaf (all your mistakes can be forgiven) as you are getting married in such a big family.” He asked her to sing Lata ji song and said he was a big fan of hers.
