Shivin Ganesan was born in 1996 (26 years old; as of 2022) in Devakottai, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. Shivin was assigned male at birth and was inclined towards dance and acting from an early age. According to Sivan, after reaching puberty, her feminine behavior became apparent. A few years later, she disclosed her gender orientation to her parents; however, as she was the only son in the family, her parents rejected her because she was transgender and often isolated her and physically harassed her. In an interview, she spoke about this and said:
I was locked in a room and my family wouldn’t let me out; they served food through a small crack in the door. I was not even allowed to see anyone in my own home and they beat me many times. “

Shivin, who is in his 20s, was sent to Singapore by his parents. According to Sivan, she was flown to Singapore for sex reassignment surgery. In an interview, she spoke about this and said:
My mother sent me to Singapore because she couldn’t live in India. Why are so many people leaving India and coming to Singapore for sex donation. “

In an episode of the sixth season of the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, Sivan spoke about her previous relationships. She said she dated a boy for two years while working as an IT professional in Chennai; however, her mother did not support her relationship and forced her to call it off. According to Sivan, her mother did not want her to date boys because Sivan is transgender. Shivin spoke about this in an interview and said:
In my hometown, we often go to temples and celebrate temple fairs together. Everyone in our village knows about our relationship and they love it. But my mother never agreed. She forced me to break up with him, saying the boy’s parents might curse me for having a relationship with him because I was a trans woman. Since my mom forced me to break up with him, I ended up doing just that. Now, he has settled in Singapore, but I heard from friends that he has developed some addictions. I just want him to stop them and find himself a good partner. “

In 2019, Shivin Ganesan started her modeling career by participating in small beauty pageants. In 2021, she won the Miss Interstar India beauty pageant. In 2022, she was set to represent India at the Miss Interstar International competition in Spain; however, she was unable to attend the event as her visa was rejected. In the same year, she won the title of Miss Equality World India 2022.
