After graduation, Shivya Nath started working as a social media strategist at the Singapore Tourism Board. There, she was introduced to social networks and began following travel bloggers around the world. She entered a Facebook competition held by AirAsia and won two round-trip tickets to Paris. She took a two-month leave, traveling in Europe for the first month and volunteering in the Spiti Desert, a cold mountainous region in the Himalayas in northern India, to develop responsible tourism alternatives.
After her vacation ended, she decided to quit her job in 2011 because she felt that her life in the past two months was more fulfilling than ever before. After quitting her job, she reopened her blog “Meteor” and began to post her travel stories on it.
After quitting her job, she spent her six months savings and then started freelancing. She has freelanced for BBC Travel, Lonely Planet India, National Geographic Traveller India, Condé Nast Traveller India, Huffington Post, Times of India, The Hindu, Hindustan Times and CNNGo. She is also a social media consultant. In 2012, she started her own travel and tour company, India Untravelled.
In 2018, she published a book titled Shooting Stars, which chronicles her personal journey and travels around the world.
In 2019, she launched her own travel clothing line, “The Shooting Star Collection”.
