Shoojit Sircar was born on Friday, 15 September 1967 in Barrackpore, Parganas district (near Kolkata), West Bengal (age 56; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Virgo. Accused of plagiarizing storyline
In 2018, Shoojit Sircar was accused of plagiarizing the storyline of the Marathi film Aarti – Untold Love Story (2017) in the Hindi film October (2018).Sarika Mene, director of the film Arti, said in an interview

Accused of copyright infringement
In 2020, Shoojit Sircar and screenwriter Juhi Chaturvedi were accused of copywriting infringement and plagiarism by Akira Agarwal. At that time, the complainant complained to the police that the script of the Hindi film “Gulabo Sitabo” (2020) directed by Shoojit was different from the script written by Akira’s father Rajeev. Written by Agarwal and submitted at Cinestaan India Storytellers Competition 2018, the story is titled “16 Mohandas Lane”.
