Sia gets candid about her latest liposuction procedure.
The singer, 47, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday: “I had to take a drug that made me gain weight, which I just can’t reverse with exercise or thyroid meds, so I went on lipolo today.”
She continued: “Please know that I’m so lucky to have the resources to change my look and when you see me looking crazy foxy again (🤪), I want you to know that it didn’t come from diet and exercise.”
The Australian singer said she wanted to be honest about undergoing liposuction so as not to perpetuate the culture of secrecy around celebrity body image, although she did not specify where on her body she had the procedure.
“I want to be honest about all my actions so I don’t contribute to a system that tells us we’re not enough,” she explained. “I’m insecure like most people and being in the public eye gives me anxiety, so I decided to change my appearance because of my self-confidence issues.”
She concluded the post with a plea for prayers and support from her fans. “Pray for me, please! 🙏 I love you, keep it up!”

Saturday’s procedure marks the second time Sia has gone public with liposuction.
In 2021, during an interview with the doctor and writer Gabor Maté, she said that insecurity pushed her to liposuction. “I went for chin liposuction twice thinking I had a double chin, and it turned out to be the muscles I use for singing,” she said at the time.
“I was so insecure,” she said, adding that she also had a failed tummy tuck. “I did it to myself because I was so insecure and I finally stop doing any of it.”

In October, she revealed plastic surgery again as she said she had work done on her face.
While presenting an award to plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei at the 5th Annual Daytime Beauty Awards in Los Angeles on Oct. 1, Sia said the award-winning doctor did the work.
“I’m a pop star who normally hides my face and doesn’t lie about s—. “I got an amazing facelift from Dr. Talei,” Sia said without specifying when she underwent the procedure. “He’s amazing. And he does so much good work — and not just for global pop stars.”
She continued: “I was showing someone in the back my before and after just before I went in. People say, ‘You look beautiful.’ I said, ‘Dr. Ben Talei facelift’ for everything you could want. I love him, I can’t say enough good things about him.”

The singer has long shied away from the spotlight, and during her rare public appearances, she’s been known to wear a signature blonde wig that hides her features – a decision motivated by a desire to be more confident on stage.
“I got sober when I put the wig on my face and then I had the ears and the wig and I’m just like, ‘It’s like I’m in a little bubble with myself,'” she told Zane Lowe in a September 2023 Apple Music 1 interview.
“But now that I know it’s happening, I think maybe one day I’ll do an open-faced show again and have a little fun talking to the audience and being teased and being present because those shows were so much fun the day before I put the wig on . They were really, really fun.”
