Siddharth Mridul started practicing as an Advocate before the Delhi High Court in 1986. He has expertise in a wide range of legal matters including writ and writ appellate jurisdictions, civil original and appellate jurisdictions, corporate jurisdictions and criminal jurisdictions. Apart from his experience in practicing law at the Delhi High Court, Mridul also has extensive experience in various other respected courts and tribunals. These include the Bombay High Court, the Karnataka High Court at Bengaluru, the Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, the Company Law Board, the Industrial and Financial Reconstruction Appellate Authority, the Debt Recovery Tribunal, and the State and State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. In 2004, he served as Standing Advisor to the Union of India.

Two years later, he was appointed as the Senior Panel Legal Adviser to the Union of India. In May 2006, Siddharth was appointed as Senior Advocate. As a member of the Disciplinary Committee, he actively contributes his expertise and maintains professional standards. He also held important positions in the Delhi Bar Association as Honorary Secretary from 1994 to 1997 and Vice Chairman from 1998 to 2003.

After being appointed by the Delhi High Court, he served as a member of various committees to address various critical issues. These committees were specifically charged with examining matters such as the rehabilitation of children after the abolition of child labour, the handling of illegal constructions in violation of municipal bye-laws, and he was a member of committees responsible for proposing, monitoring and implementing measures to ensure the safety of children. On July 5, 2023, a Supreme Court committee comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna recommended the appointment of Justice Siddharth Mridul as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Taking into account all relevant factors, the Full Bench is of the considered opinion that Justice Siddharth Mridul is in all respects suitable for appointment as the Chief Judge of the Manipur High Court. “

Earlier, a Supreme Court committee had recommended to the Center on February 9, 2023, to promote Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, but the recommendation was still pending Federal approval. The collegium, therefore, recommended the appointment of Justice Thakur as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which in turn called for fresh recommendations for the post of Chief Judge of the Manipur High Court.
