Simone Biles Felt 'So Overwhelmed' with Anxiety in the Olympic Village: 'I Was Shaking'

Simone Biles opens up about her anxiety about staying in the Olympic Village and preparing for the competition.

On Friday, August 2, the United States’ most decorated gymnast of all time, 27, shared a GRWM video on TikTok as she prepared for the all-around final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

While listening to music while doing her makeup, Biles opened up about her third Olympics.

“Hi, get ready for the Olympic all-around finals with me,” she said at the start of the nearly five-minute clip.

“I’m really nervous, but that’s to be expected. “I had therapy this morning, so I’m feeling a little better,” Biles continued. “I’ve worked so hard, mentally, to get to this point.”

On Friday on TikTok, Biles admitted that the event she’s “most nervous about” is the vault.

After briefly greeting Brazilian gymnast Rebecca Andrade, calling the 25-year-old her “best competitor,” Biles discussed her experience up until that point in the Olympic Village.

“I didn’t do much around the Olympic Village, and that’s because the first day we got here, I got to the cafeteria and a lot of people were asking me for photos, like non-stop, and whenever I sat down to eat, I was worried it was so bad I was shaking,” Biles said.

The gymnast recalled how she couldn’t stop shaking and felt “so overcome”.

“I just go to the grocery store, stock up on food and just stay here because it makes me really anxious,” she said from her room.

Also on Friday, Biles shared a photo on Instagram of herself in a meditative moment after winning the all-around on Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Bercy Arena in Paris.

“Mental health is important,” she captioned the post.

The winner of 9 Olympic medals has recently been vocal about her mental health and therapy sessions, she recently stated Today‘s Hoda Kotb: “I feel much freer, I especially go to therapy and do these sessions so that I feel better physically and mentally, and I know that it is an important part of my routine. So if you stay on top of that, it lightens the load a lot.”

Biles will compete in three more individual events starting with the vault finals on Saturday, August 3. She will also compete in the balance beam and floor exercise finals on Monday, August 5.
