Southwark Coroners’ Court, which has been investigating Sinead’s death since she was discovered at the flat off Coldharbour Lane, said it had “ceased to be involved” in her death.

An autopsy was performed after no medical cause was given for her tragic death in July.

And there will be no public inquest after her death was confirmed to be “natural causes”.

A spokesman for Southwark Coroner’s Court said: “We can confirm that Mrs O’Connor died of natural causes.

“The coroner has therefore ceased to be involved in her death. We will not be making any further comment.”

O’Connor had only moved to London weeks before her tragic death, which came 18 months after she lost her beloved son Shane to suicide.

Metohija police confirmed at the time that her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Police said: “Police were called at 11.18am on Wednesday July 26 to reports of an unresponsive female at a residential address in the SE24 area.

“The police arrived. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

An emotional Sinead said “losing a child is not good for the soul” in a heartbreaking final video to fans released days before her death.

Sinead posted the clip on her Twitter account on July 9 – her last video message to fans – after some of her followers questioned whether the page belonged to the star.

The star showed fans her apartment and said she plans to write more songs with her new guitar.

THE HEARTBREAK STAR

She also told how she struggled with the loss of her son Shane (17), who died in January 2022.

She added: “I think we’re in HD, I look like a dick anyway, which is why I didn’t want to make a video, but you know the way your child dies unfortunately isn’t good for anyone’s body or soul to be honest.

“But anyway look, let’s not think about the bad. Anyway, hi guys. Let’s see if I can turn the camera over there, there’s a bunch of flowers that my friend gave me today in my lovely apartment.

“There’s my new Martin Johnny f*****g Cash guitar that I’m going to write some tunes on and yeah that’s all I can show you cause this place is a shithole but there it is this crazy witch.”

Neighbors who lived near her flat in London said they had seen her in good spirits in the days before her death.

Neighbor Farath Moragammanage said: “I last saw her about two weeks ago. She seemed happy, laughing and waving.

“She was with a friend and said she was going to Brixton with a friend from Ireland.

“She told me she was a famous singer and must have moved here about six weeks ago. She lived there alone.”

Sinead, who was born in Glenageary, Dublin, shot to international fame in 1990 when she covered Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U.

Deeply shaken by childhood trauma, Sinead was sent to a reformatory at the age of 14.

And her tears in the music video for her hit Nothing Compares were about her mother, with whom she had a troubled relationship.

The star’s huge funeral procession saw throngs of admirers along the coast outside her former home in Bray, Co Wicklow.

Devastated fans set fire to the song and laid flowers on the hearse carrying the tragic singer’s remains in her “final farewell”.

U2 stars Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton were among those who attended her private funeral.

Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof, who was also in attendance, later followed Sinead’s funeral procession in a taxi.

The stars had known each other since childhood and Bob revealed how Sinead sent him “desperate” messages in the weeks before her death.

Sinead was remembered as a “beloved daughter of Ireland” with a “poetic heart” whose “voice moved a generation of young people” during the service.

CHILDREN’S SORROW

And her family thanked the “countless kind people” who offered their condolences following her tragic death in a public message in August.

Her three surviving children – Roisín, Jake and Yeshua – along with her extended family, said the support had helped them.

The post said: “Sinead’s children, along with Sinead’s extended family, would like to thank the countless kind people who have sympathized and offered their condolences on Sinead’s recent death.

“Their helpful support to the family is greatly appreciated.

“We thank the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, and his wife Sabina and An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD for their attendance at the funeral service on the morning of 8 August 2023.

“Thanks also to Dingle Druid Juli Ní Mhaoileóin for her conduct of the funeral service and later, the burial ceremony in the beautiful garden at Deansgrange Cemetery.

“Further thanks to Sheikh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri and his colleagues for the Muslim prayers and blessing of Sinéad at both of these ceremonies.”

Sinead was in talks for a major biopic about her life – and was planning to release new music when she tragically died.

Just weeks before her death, she revealed plans to release her 11th album No Veterans Die Alone in early 2024.

And Sinead had more “wonderful plans” in the works as she mapped out her 2024 tour dates in the weeks before her death, her management said.

Music management company 67 Management said: “In credit to those who have been part of Sinead’s team during our tenure, it must be mentioned that Sinead has been putting the finishing touches to her new album, considering new tour dates for 2024 and considering the possibility of a film about her a book.

“Wonderful plans were underway at the time. A testament and tribute to those who put their hearts first for Sinead, to whom we are forever grateful.”

RETURN TO LONDON

Sinead herself spoke of her excitement at returning to London before her death – having first moved there in 1985 when she signed her own record deal with Ensign Records.

Soon after, she landed her first high-profile job, singing and co-writing duties on the song Heroine with U2’s the Edge for the soundtrack to the film, Captive.

In 1986, Sinead began work on her own debut album, The Lion and the Cobra, but everything stopped when she became pregnant with her drummer John Reynolds.

She had a son, Jake, and enjoyed a string of hits with her debut album.

In the mid-80s, when she first took a razor to her head, she was so afraid of what people would say that she locked herself in her apartment and only let her friends see her through the mailbox.

Sinead later commented: “I didn’t want any man telling me what to do or who to be. I came from a patriarchal country where I was told what I could and couldn’t do because I was a girl, and I realized if I didn’t take him from the system in Ireland, I will not take it from anyone else.

“Looking back, until 1985 I was making a living as a woman independent of men, which was unheard of in Ireland at the time.”

CAREER MOVE

Many believed Sinead sabotaged her own career when she tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live in the US in 1992 at the height of her success.

Sinead’s former publicist Elaine Schock recalled the panic on the set of the series moments after Sinead tore up the Pope’s picture live on US television.

Elaine said: “No one knew what to do. My blood was running in my veins. She (Sinead) came off the stage, went into her dressing room and was happy to pull this off.

“I went into the dressing room afterwards and told her ‘I can’t get you out of this’ and she said ‘You know what? I don’t want you to do that.’

Explaining her actions 30 years later, Sinead said: “There were things going on in my life.

“The things I discovered my mother had done I did not know. And I came across an article about families trying to file complaints against the Church for sexual abuse and being silenced, basically fucking everything I was brought up to believe was a lie.”
