Sister Wives: Christine Promises Newly-Divorced Meri in Emotional Heart-to-Heart That It's 'Better on the Other Side'

Meri Brown is still processing her divorce from her longtime husband Kody Brown — and his other ex-wife, Christine Brown, knows the experience well.

During Sunday’s November 10 episode Sister wivesMeri was present at the wedding of Christine’s daughter Gwendlyn Brown ahead of her wedding to Beatriz Queiroz in July 2023. The occasion marked one of the rare times that Christine, Meri, Kody and his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown, were in the same room following the patriarch’s three divorces . (Janelle Brown was unable to attend due to a pregnancy related to daughter Maddie Brown Brush.)

During the celebration, Meri took the moment to approach Christine to introduce herself to her ex-wife’s new boyfriend, David Woolley. After some small talk, Christine then asked Meri how she was holding up, admitting that she was aware of Meri and Kody’s official split.

Christine then pulled Meri into a hug, and Kody’s first wife became teary-eyed. “I love you,” said Meri (53), and Christine (52) replied, “I love you too.”

– Eh, I don’t know – Meri admitted.

“It will be,” Christine reassured Meri. “Infinitely better. It is. It is, I promise. Much better.”

Meri was Kody’s first wife before they started a polygamous arrangement with Janelle, 55, in 1993. Christine and Robyn, 45, joined the family in the years that followed.

In November 2021, Christine became the first wife to leave Kody. Janelle then announced her split in December 2022, and Meri jointly announced her split from Kody in January 2023.

Meri later obtained an official divorce from Kody through her church, which was granted on grounds of abandonment.

On the November 10 episode, Meri also opened up about her breakup with Janelle for the first time. At the beginning of the episode, Janelle visited Meri to warn her about the future of Coyote Pass, which is a family property they both partially own. However, the couple also revealed the current situation with Kody (55).

Telling Meri that she was finally “free,” Janelle, 55, explained: “Kody and I have officially said, even though we’ve agreed, we’ve officially said it’s not working. I just think I need something different.”

“Are you happy?” Meri asked as Janelle replied, “I am. I’m at peace.”

“It’s weird, but it’s not necessarily bad,” Janelle said.

“I mean, I wish things, you know, could have gone a different way in the family,” Meri said as Janelle replied, “Yeah, me too.”
