On Saturday, Garrison’s cousin, Emma Brown, revealed that a funeral had been held for the 25-year-old in an Instagram post.

“Dear Robert, I had to get dressed for your funeral today and this is all I wish you had heard before I had to say goodbye,” she wrote in the caption next to several photos of her cousin. “I don’t even have a picture of you without your infectious smile. I don’t know if I have the right words to say that I will miss you. I wish I could hug you and tell you how much you were loved. You were human, you had flaws, but I never doubted into our friendship.”

“I will always cherish the time I spend with you,” she continued. “We planned to go on so many backpacking trips but only made it on one. I’ll miss your silly dad jokes, our coffees, our dinners together. the times we watched movies and you always let me put messy face masks over our faces .”

On March 5, Janelle and Kody Brown’s son was found dead in his home in Flagstaff, Arizona. At the time, Lt. Charles M. Lt. Hernandez’s statement continued, “There are no indications of foul play at this time, and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.”

Shortly after the news, Janelle and Kody shared a statement on Instagram confirming their son’s death.

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of her son. “His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. Fans first met Garrison in 2010 alongside his siblings, mother Janelle, father Kody and Kody’s other wives β€” Meri, Christine and Robyn Brown β€” in the TLC series documenting the everyday life of a polygamist family.

After Janelle spiritually married Kody in 1993, the couple had six children: Madison, Logan, Garrison, Gabriel, Hunter and Savanah. In December 2022, Janelle announced that she and Kody had split.

Over the years, Kody’s relationship with his children became strained. In the episode from 2023 Sister wivesGabriel and Garrison revealed they were “at odds” with Kody after expressing their “displeasure” with the way he handled the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I just ran into a wall,” Gabriel recounted at the time, “and there was no line of dialogue. I think that’s what really drove the wedge between us.”

In a later confessional interview, Janelle expressed concern about her children’s strained relationship with their father. “I was worried about the mental health of my boys. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also a kid who doesn’t say anything,” she said, before adding that Garrison “just looks angrier or sadder, like he’s not as cheerful as he used to be.”
