Janelle Brown looks back on the moments leading up to her wedding to now-ex-husband Kody Brown.
In Sunday’s episode on December 8 Sister wivesJanelle arrived in Utah with daughter Maddie Brush to help Christine Brown pick out a wedding dress for her wedding to David Woolley. Naturally, Janelle reflected on her previous wedding to Kody.
“I didn’t actually have a wedding dress,” Janelle (55) said to the cameras. “When Kody and I got married, my family was very upset about my decision to become religious, so most of my family didn’t talk to me or hang out with me.”

“I had a green dress that I was wearing. That was it,” she noted.
“My mom was at the wedding because she came to save me from a polygamist and she ended up marrying Kody’s dad three months before we got married. So obviously my mom was okay with it, but the rest of my family really wasn’t okay with it. Well, they weren’t , they didn’t come.”
Janelle was spiritually married to Kody, 55, from 1993 to 2022. Before that, she was married to Adam Barber — the brother of Kody’s first wife, Meri Brown — from 1988 to 1990.

Reflecting on her future, Janelle said in the confessional, “If I get married again, I probably won’t have a dress. I won’t wear a big white dress. I mean, I’ll probably honestly just go get married on a mountain somewhere in jeans.”
Janelle wasn’t the only one reflecting on her past, present and future during the Dec. 8 episode. As Meri joined friends for lunch, she got some good advice about her “re-statement” to stay in her struggling marriage to Kody, who is now only married to his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
“I’d like to see you get to a point where it’s like, ‘You know what? I loved my time with Kody and I love where I am now,'” she said.
“That’s good,” said Mary. “OK, I’ll work on it. It was nice with him. It was. And now we’re done.”

In the confessional, Meri, who announced her split from Kody in January 2023 and later received an official divorce through her church, spoke positively about her next chapter.
“I feel like I’m moving forward,” she said. – Eventually I will find a guy and then who knows what will happen after that, who knows what will happen.
