Meri Brown sees a whole new side to her ex-husband Kody Brown.
In this week’s episode Sister wivesairing Sunday, Nov. 23, Kody made good on his promise to help Mera move out of her home in Flagstaff, Arizona before moving back to Utah permanently. And despite a rocky past few years with each other, the two exes – whose relationship was officially ended through their church following their split in 2023 – got on smoothly as they joked light-heartedly.
At one point, Meri accidentally backed into Kody, causing the duo to burst out laughing. “Closer than I’ve been to him in years,” said Meri (53) to the cameras.

For his part, Kody even called Meri his “favorite ex-wife.” The Brown family patriarch was also previously married to Christine Brown and Janelle Brown through a polygamous arrangement. He is now married to his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
Near the end of the moving process, Meri and Kody had a conversation that unexpectedly brought the 55-year-old to tears. He even called it “the end of an era” before hugging Meri. (Note that this entire conversation took place in front of Mary’s brother-in-law and her best friend, Jenn Sullivan.)
“It’s been a great run, but I’m not going to let that get me down,” he said.
To his reaction, Meri said, “It always amazes me that you get so emotional. I just don’t get it.”
“We had something special and it seems like it all went to s…, in a way,” he said, his voice shaking and tears in his eyes.

“I’m not bitter anymore. I’m not angry. I’m glad you and I figured it out. I’m glad we could be friends. I’m glad you’re my favorite ex-wife,” he continued. “But it’s the weirdest thing to be in that place. It’s just heartbreaking in a way. And I love the life that I have, but it’s a very different life than I had three years ago, you know? It just seemed like everybody else just left, this is not important.”
Kody admitted at the time that he was “going through the anger phase of the divorce.” And while he is no longer angry, he is “sad” because he is “mourning the loss.”
“And now with you, I’m going through that anger phase,” he then said before apologizing. “I regret the seven years, but I’m glad we did it because now I can mourn the loss instead of being angry.”

Meri was taken aback by Kody’s unexpectedly emotional reaction to her departure after years of neglecting their relationship. “He says it’s the end of an era, and I don’t think it had to be like that,” she said in front of the cameras.
“I don’t understand. I don’t get it. I don’t know where this is coming from. I don’t understand,” she continued. “He’s made it clear he doesn’t want me in his life. So why this emotion? … I’m devastated. I don’t know what to do with this.”

Wrapping up their conversation, Kody looked to the future and told Mera that it wouldn’t be “weird” for him to get married again one day. Mera’s best friend Jenn then jokingly asked if Kody would be the flower girl at her next wedding, and the father of 18 seemingly seriously replied, “No, I’ll walk her down the aisle.”
Meri and Kody laughed at his remark before hugging once more as the episode prepared to close. “It’s like, you know, this is the end of an era and now we’re allowed to move on,” Kody added through tears.
