Meri Brown is embracing a new chapter in her life after splitting from ex Kody Brown.
The Sister wives star, 53, told PEOPLE she feels “really good” after splitting from Kody after 32 years of marriage in December 2022.
“I feel like I have a direction and I’m doing really well,” she said while speaking with PEOPLE for the August 2023 cover story. “There’s definitely been a lot of clarity over the past year with me and my relationship with Kody.”

The reality star explained that she found closure through “conversations that Kody and I were actually finally able to have.” She added: “We were able to be really raw and honest and open with each other, and that was good. I mean, it really is.”
Meri, who recently announced that she is in a new relationship, also stated that she bears no ill will towards her ex.
“It’s not that we have a bitter divorce, a bitter separation, we’re fine,” she explained. “We also don’t talk every day, so it’s not like we’re best friends, but I feel like we’re pretty comfortable with each other. And I feel like, honestly, that’s the best way.”

Meri admitted that she would have liked “if we could have had some of the conversations earlier.” And also, I don’t know if I would have been willing to have some of the conversations earlier.”
“So it’s not like I can live my life with regrets and wish something had happened,” she added. “I think we all do to some degree, but I know there are things I should have learned, and I know there are things I should have done to be where I am now with the whole thing.”
Meri revealed she was dating a “good guy” named Amos as she marked her 53rd birthday on Instagram on Wednesday.
Alongside a carousel of pictures of her and Amos together, Brown wrote: “Birthday #53 looks a little different to me this year and I can say I love the way it looks! Meet Amos, the hot guy I’ve been with since October!”

“He’s not 180 cm tall and he’s not a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do and we laugh a lot together, both of which are important elements of a relationship!”
Speaking about why she kept the news a secret, she continued: “I kept it close to me as we enjoyed the last few months of dating and getting to know each other.”
