Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Remembers Late Dad with Touching Tribute 16 Years After His Death

Mary Brown misses her late father, Bill Barber Jr.

In a touching tribute on Instagram on Tuesday, Brown remembered her father and the special impact he left on the world.

“16 years have passed today. The world could use a lot more of this man,” the Sister wives star (52), wrote on his Instagram Story along with two photos of Barber Jr.

Like Brown, her dad had a polygamous relationship while he was alive.

“My dad took his first plural wife when I was about 11,” Brown said in a 2021 episode of the show. Sister wives. “I spent a lot of years with other moms and other siblings that weren’t just from my mom. So it wasn’t unusual for me.”

Barber Jr. and his five wives gave Brown 25 siblings before Barber Jr. died in 2007. Brown’s mom, Bonnie Ahlstrom, later died in 2021.

On Instagram in March 2021, Brown talked about how her parents were finally reunited in heaven.

“You are loved, missed, and I know you are so happy to be celebrating on the other side with your dad, hugging your daughter and son who left us too soon, reuniting with your parents and meeting your dad,” Brown wrote to his mom. “Love them all, hug them all and be happy. Or rather, just keep filling that space around you with light as you always have.”

The following year, Brown opened up about her mother in a September 2022 episode of the show Sister wivesremembering how she found out her mom was sick.

“I found out that she had a heart attack a few days ago. It’s not something I’m ready for,” Brown said. “She is only 76 years old. … I don’t even know how to do it. It just happened so fast. My mom was the person who gave the most of herself.”

Brown has continued to keep their legacy alive, stopping by her parents’ graves in early August to reflect on their impact.

“We miss these two amazing people. Missing their wisdom, their laughter, their love,” Brown wrote on Instagram on August 7. “There’s nothing quite as lonely for a few days as when you don’t have mom and dad by your side. Nothing can replace them. So many sweet memories of them will live on and hopefully I can share a little spark of their light with the world.”

As well as paying tribute to her parents, Brown took to social media to share inspirational messages following her split from husband Kody after 32 years of marriage in December.

Although she believes jealousy has affected polygamous marriages, Brown previously told PEOPLE that “life is good” to move forward.

“I’m successful in business. I have another really exciting project coming up. I’m surrounded by good people. I have a great support system. Things are good,” she said.
