Meri Brown reflects on the final moments of her relationship with Kody Brown.

During the 2nd part Sister wives answer special, the 52-year-old discussed her goodbye hug with Kody, 54, after their relationship ended as a flashback of their split was shown.

In the October episode Sister wivesKody opened up about how his marriage to Meri was strained and he lost the spark he needed to keep going.

“I feel like Meri and I had a relatively friendly relationship,” the patriarch of the Brown family said on camera. “It’s far away, I don’t see her often. I don’t know what to do with a marriage that should be eternal, but there is no fire in it.”

In January, Meri and Kody announced they were separating in a joint message posted on their Instagram pages, writing, “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we’ve made the decision to permanently end our marriage.”

The couple tied the knot in 1990. The now exes – who have child Leon Brown – ended up having a polygamous relationship with Janelle, 54, before welcoming Christine, 51, and Robyn, 45, into polygamy. Meri later divorced Kody so he could legally adopt Robyn’s children from her previous marriage.

The original Brown couple have experienced many problems over the years, and Mary’s catfish drama — in which she practically hooks up with a woman posing as a male fan — served as one major turning point for the couple.

Additionally, Meri previously told PEOPLE that she and Kody had been tossing and turning for a while before officially ending their union.
